What is a serum?

Lighter than a day cream but richer than an essence or hydrating skin mist, serums are usually formulated with a high concentration of active ingredients, such as vitamin C derivative or hyaluronic acid. When it comes to formulation, serums are usually designed to treat a specific skincare concern, such as dry skin, dark spots or redness.

What does a face serum do?

A serum is packed with active ingredients. It penetrates deeply for effective, long-lasting results. Clarins' serums combine plant and science-powered ingredients to address various skin needs. Their lightweight, fast-absorbing texture primes skin for subsequent skincare steps routine.
Plus, face serums are designed to be incorporated into your skincare routine, working simultaneously with the hydrating, mattifying, or anti-ageing properties of your usual moisturiser or face oil. Do I need both serum and moisturiser?

It depends on your needs and skin conditions. With a lighter texture, a serum is great if you want to deeply penetrate your skin, while a moisturiser is thicker and can highly hydrate the skin. We recommend using both serum and moisturiser, as they serve different purposes.

How do I apply a face serum?

After cleansing your face with your favourite cleanser and toner, there are 3 simple steps to apply your serum:

1. Warm the face serum in your hands

2. Apply gently to your face

3. Apply pressure to stimulate circulation

In your morning routine, a face serum should be applied to freshly cleansed skin before you put on your day cream. For your evening routine, apply a face serum to clean skin before your night cream.

Can I use two serums?

For example, use the Double Serum Light Texture in the morning, as its lightweight texture is quickly absorbed. Then apply Double Serum during your nighttime skincare routine. Or keep an intensely hydrating serum for the winter and use a lighter one in the summer.
