The power of plants
Cryptomeria is a conifer from Japan that is used for its softwood. Today, it is cultivated in other regions with a temperate climate, such as Asia, Canada, South Africa and Reunion Island. Cryptomeria can reach a considerable size (up to 60 m) despite a relatively narrow spread (3 m). This gives the tree a slender cone shape which differs from those of other trees. The buds are known for being rich in vitamins, minerals and trace elements which allow the tree to grow.
Skincare benefits of Organic cryptomeria extract
In cosmetics, organic cryptomeria extract has been shown to be effective at restricting fat storage which helps refine the skin.
Responsible sourcing
Protecting soil and biodiversity is a long-standing commitment at Clarins. Our cryptomeria is grown on Reunion Island in accordance with organic farming principles, meaning without chemical inputs or pesticide.
