The power of plants
The evening primrose is a pioneer plant with yellow flowers which can resist temperatures as low as -25°C. On the American continent, it appears to have survived Ice Ages 70,000 years ago. The plant flowers in the evening and closes again in the morning. It is particularly rich in oenothein, a molecule known to activate the “calcium flash” (the “rapid” movement of calcium into skin cells). The evening primrose is a hardy plant: this exceptional resilience, pioneering aspect and hardiness – resistance to the cold – inspired Clarins Research to select evening primrose (organic plant) extract.
Skincare benefits of Evening primrose extract (organic plant)
In cosmetics, evening primrose (organic plant) extract helps to mobilize calcium to revive the skin's radiance. An in vitro study has also helped to demonstrate the stimulating effect of evening primrose (organic plant) extract on the secretion of type I collagen by fibroblasts. Conclusion: evening primrose (organic plant) extract has a firming action on the skin.
Responsible sourcing
Sourced from an organic French supply channel, our evening primrose is grown without pesticide. It is a biennial plant which blooms two years in a row between June and July. It is grown in accordance with conservation agriculture principles, based on reduced soil disturbance, the use of cover crops, and the observation of bioindicator species. The evening primrose plots sit alongside a classified wetland area which is home to remarkable species, such as the salamander. The plant is produced using a process that maintains biodiversity and natural balance.
