The power of plants
The coconut is the well-travelled fruit of the coconut tree, an elegant palm from hot regions of the world. It is believed to have originated in South Asia before colonizing the tropical coastlands of Africa, America and Oceania thanks to its ability to float for days and still retain its capacity to germinate. The coconut tree is one of the oldest known “useful” plants. Its wood is sought-after in construction and its sap is a thirst-quenching drink. Just its fruit alone, the coconut, is a very complete food with its sweet, white nourishing flesh and delicious refreshing, slightly milky water.

Responsible sourcing
Protecting the soil and biodiversity is a longstanding commitment at Clarins. That’s why we have always given priority to plant-based active ingredients sourced from organic agriculture, grown using sustainable farming methods that respect nature and the health of the soil. For certain plants like the Coconut tree, we practice multi-sourcing meaning that we rely on both organic and non-organic extracts in order to ensure that the volume that we require for our products is met.
