The power of plants
The Alpenrose is a bushy mountain shrub commonly found at altitudes of 1,600 to 2,400m. It is a hardy plant which can survive the mountain winters thanks to the thick covering of snow which protects it from the extreme cold. In addition, it expands in an unusual way, in the direction of the slope. When Alpenrose reaches 50 to 60 years of age, during wintertime, thick snow pushes the branches downwards to the ground where they can take root and form a new shrub. This original survival mechanism makes Alpenrose unique. It is known in traditional medicine for the treatment of a number of illnesses and used to this day in homeopathy.
Skincare benefits of Organic Alpenrose extract
In cosmetics, organic Alpenrose extract helps to inhibit lifestyle-induced oxidative stress. It is also effective at helping to reduce the effects of UVA radiation, and to protect the skin.
Responsible sourcing
Our organic Alpenrose is hand-picked in France in accordance with good practices for the harvesting of wild plants. It grows at our Domaines among other plants. Nestled at the heart of the Alps at an altitude of 1400 metres, Domaine Clarins Serraval is an open-air laboratory and an exceptional source of organic raw materials. We have grown our own ingredients here since 2016 in rhythm with the seasons. This unique establishment prides itself on respecting the fauna and flora: its regenerative agriculture method (in full compliance with natural habitats and cycles, natural inputs, etc.) strengthens soils and biodiversity. Domaine Clarins Serraval reflects the commitment of the Clarins team in charge of the establishment, which works continuously alongside regional agricultural partners, all of whom share the same attachment to the planet and their professions.
